With more than a decade of nursing experience, Susanne Marie Capozzi serves as a staff registered nurse at Davita Dialysis, part of St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where she oversees hemodialysis treatments. Outside of work, Susanne Capozzi has several hobbies, including hiking. Hiking, which combines the exertion of walking with the relaxation of being in nature, can be classified into different types.

Day hiking is the kind beginners usually do because of the limited exertion involved and the convenience of a short hike. Day hiking is simply going on walks during the daylight hours. Even though time is limited, it doesn’t mean day hiking cannot be challenging. Several hours on a demanding trail can amount to a tough exercise session.

Another type is summit hiking. This kind is done on inclined trails on the sides of mountains or hills. The slope of the hike makes it tougher than walking on relatively flat terrain, and making it to the summit provides a special reward.

In terms of rigor, the apex is the long-distance hike. Meant to be a test of endurance, this hiking can last for weeks.
